Save up to 60% over completely new cabinets. Custom doors, veneer, and hardware. Only Takes A Few Days
I see people in Lowes and home depot all the time forking out big money to buy new cabinets. I cant help but wonder if they know about the cheaper option out there called cabinet refacing. There is nothing tacky or cheap looking about cabinet refacing. A professional craftsman builds custom doors, veneer side panels, and changes the hardware on a cabinet body. You dont have to spend the extra money that it cost to buy all the wood, you only have to pay for the doors and some thin sheets of wood paneling. You can save up to 60% over the cost of regular cabinets. The process is also much quicker. A custom cabinet maker can have the new doors and sides built in just a few days and get them installed in a few hours.
Cabinet refacing involves replacing or veneering the outer parts of the cabinet. Therefore, the cabinet boxes, called the cases, stay in their current layout, but get a new finish with veneer. Drawer fronts and cabinet doors, get completely replaced. You can finish off the new look with trim and new cabinet hardware.
There are two types of cabinet refacing that vary greatly in quality. The cheap route also know as the Do it yourself route entails using a peel-and-stick veneer. This is basically a printed wood pattern on plastic. I dont recommend you do this because it can look really tacky. The best option is to have a custom cabinet maker create thin wood panels that they adhere to the sides of the cabinet and new custom doors that replace the old ones. It only takes a few days to complete the entire project and your finished work looks as good as a new set of expensive cabinets.
